Research Objectives for Texas CEAL

  • 1. Conduct community-engaged research to promote awareness and enhance knowledge to overcome COVID-19 misinformation in diverse racial and ethnic populations across Texas.
  • 2. Leverage existing community-partnerships and proven local strategies to increase uptake and active participation of diverse racial and ethnic groups in evidenced-based COVID-19 prevention practices and therapeutic trials (example: ongoing vaccine and future trials).
  • 3. Disseminate science-based and targeted educational campaigns in diverse racial and ethnic communities and evaluate their impact on beliefs, attitudes, knowledge, and practices of COVID-19 prevention and treatment.
  • 4. Develop sustainable community-engaged organizational capacity in Texas by creating a repository of local community-centric, evidence-based COVID-19 knowledge products (i.e. best practices) targeted towards populations experiencing disproportionate burden of COVID-19.

Community Effort in Fighting COVID-19

The Health Webinar Series powered by Texas CEAL and MD Anderson has brought together church leaders, congregants, health professionals, and COVID-19 experts from African American and Hispanic communities. The goal of this event it to provide actionable insight to make well-informed decisions about clinical trials, COVID-19 vaccination. and prevention. Partners involved in the planning of the webinar series include:

  • Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
